<p>According to this <a href="http://www.curtisfilm.rutgers.edu">Website</a>, the Edward S. Curtis film, In the Land of the Head Hunters has been restored, re-evaluated and framed with a live orchestral arrangement. Shot in 1914, this silent melodramatic film featured many people from the Kwakw<span style="text-decoration: underline;">a</span>k<span style="text-decoration: underline;">a</span>â€™wakw Nation.</p>
<p>It looks like the Gwawina Dance group will be performing at the <a href="http://www.chancentre.com/whats-on/event/details/land-of-th/">Vancouver screening</a> of the film. I had the pleasure of working with this traditional singing and dance group from Alert Bay, when I was in Banff several years ago. Too bad I&#8217;ll be working at the Jazz festival the night that this restored film screens here in Vancouver.</p>
